Israelites living under the control of the Ancient Greek Empire experienced a great deal of pressure to assimilate to the dominant Greek culture.  Today, many ethnic minorities also experience pressure to assimilate and adopt European cultural traditions.  Dr. Vincent Wimbash counters that we should intentionally disrupt this pattern.  Let us consider this history and Wimbash's recommendations.  Rev. Fran Quigley, Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law professor and author, address three main points during this Labor Day service: 1) Living wages are good for our community from an economic perspective, 2) Living wages are good for our community from a moral and spiritual perspective, and 3) We all have an opportunity to stand in solidarity with our working brothers and sisters fighting for a living wage in our own community.
